Since 2003 Maggie has organised and hosted Tongues & Grooves, a successful poetry and music club which aims to raise the profile of poetry and music in Portsmouth by providing a regular platform for local talent.
Tongues & Grooves runs poetry readings, classes, workshops and literary days out. The club has supported song-writing and musical collaborations and produced two high quality CDs. A successful New Theatre Royal Concert in 2006 included a Tongues & Grooves Poetry Competition. 2007 saw the launch of Tongues & Grooves ‘On Tour’.
Relationships have been formed with The Havant Literary Festival, The Discovery Centre (Gosport), Havant Arts Centre, Portsmouth City Arts, Quay Arts (Newport, Isle of Wight), The Poetry School, The Poetry Society, The University of Portsmouth and TheSouth.
Featured poets have been asked to submit a poem for a new anthology of Portsmouth poems.
